Drug peddler nabbed
ITANAGAR, June 22: A Chongkham Police and members from Tai Youth Association of Chongkham circle in Lohit district led by Inspector Thomas Pertin of Chongkham Police Out Post in a joint operation nabbed one drug peddler from Chaongkha 3 village yesterday and recovered 40 gms of brown sugar from his possession.
It was revealed during interrogation of the drug peddler that he used to procure the drugs from Tinsukia, Assam and sell them at Chongkham.
A case has been registered at Namsai Police station against the drug peddler under section 21 NDPS Act, informed Inspector Pertin.
Chongkham police along with Army is making all out efforts to apprehend other drug peddlers to make the area free from drug menace, Pertin said.
‘Stop illegal earth cutting’
ITANAGAR, June 22: Expressing grave concern over illegal earth cutting in and around the Capital Complex, the Capital Youth Organization (CYA) has urged the district administration stop such earth cutting immediately.
CYA said that earth cutting during rainy season has completely damaged roads at various points causing great problem not only to motorists but also pedestrians. It has become almost impossible to drive on muddy roads and may cause fatal accidents.
CYO also appealed to the people of Capital Complex to refrain from such illegal activity for smooth traffic movement.
RBI conducts training on rubber tree plantation
PASIGHAT, June 22: Rubber Board of India (RBI) Ruksin branch conducted a one day training on rubber plantation at Mikong village Dere.
RBI field officer Ranjit Dutta and president of Rubber Growers Society, Ruksin Ojing Aje imparted training to the participants on entire process, practice and scientific techniques of planting the rubber seedlings, its treatment and maintenance to ensure proper growth of the tree.
The resource persons duo suggested the interested farmers to form NGO and get it registered with RBI to avail benefits.
Meanwhile, the villagers assured take up rubber plantation in the area and appealed to the state government to take suitable step to encourage the poor and needy growers by extending financial assistance.

Mass social service held at Namsai
ITANAGAR, June 22: The general administration headed by ADC Ravi Jha in collaboration with Namsai Bazar committee, government staff and public conducted a social service at Namsai township yesterday.
The volunteers cleared the weeds and jungles around the bazaar area and also cleaned drains and garbage on the occasion.
Jha directed all the shopkeepers to keep dustpans at their shops so that the vehicle of the District Urban Development Agency could easily collect the garbage.
He also appealed to the people of the township to maintain cleanliness and dispose off the garbage at designated spot.
KVK training
ITANAGAR, June 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lower Subansiri district organized a training cum demonstration programme on “Nursery production and scientific cultivation of Onion” at Ziro on June 20.
During the training programme Shashi Kant Chaturvedi, SMS (Horticulture) demonstrated methods of nursery production and scientific cultivation technology of onion.
He also distributed some Onion seeds to the farmers for testing in their fields.
Altogether, 15 farmers from Reru, Hari, Bamin and Dutta village attended the training programme.

Students kept in illegal confinement

DAPORIJO, June 22: More than 19 school children were allegedly kept under illegal confinement by the school principal of Si Donyi Public School, Daporijo. A case has been registered under section 342/324 IPC at Daporijo police station against the school principal for mercilessly beating up the students and for keeping them under illegal confinement in hostel.
The incident came to public domain when mother of a victim student visited the school on June 19 and found her son with grievous injury marks on his body. She immediately informed police about the incident and lodged complaint at Daporijo Police Station against the principal.

“We were mercilessly beaten up with wood stick and everyone was suffering from severe pain. We were not given medical treatment when we approached the hostel warden. Rather the school authority threatened that they will fail us in final examination if we inform our parents about the incident,” said one of the victims while talking to this reporter.
Meanwhile, every section of the society has vehently condemned the barbaric act of the school authority and appealed to the State Child Welfare Committee and other concern authority to look into the matter seriously and punish the culprits.
Take steps against price rise: ATSU to authority

DAPORIJO, June 22: Expressing grave concern over soaring prices of all essential items especially rice at Daporijo township, All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) has demanded the district authority to take necessary steps to control the relentless price rise.
Poor and common people are facing lots of hardships due to rise in prices of all essential items, especially rice. It has become difficult for them to meet both ends as prices are rising constantly,” said ATSU in its memorandum to the district administration.
While the shopkeepers are selling commodities at exorbitant rates the administration is watching it like a mute spectator, the memorandum said and demanded administration to act tough against the scrupulous businessmen/shopkeepers.
ATSU also vehemently condemned the BRTF for tardy progress of the CC Road at Daporijo.
Inordinate delay in construction of the road in the middle of Daporijo town is not only causing traffic congestion but also posing a great threat to the pedestrians. Recently, one person has suffered fatal injury in a motorcycle accident while a boy succumbed to his injury in a separate road accident last week.
Meanwhile, ATSU have organized a peaceful demonstration by fishing in the middle of the road to draw the attention of the state government to repair the said road immediately.

ITANAGAR, June 22: The 4th General Conference of All Arunachal Pradesh Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery Cadre Welfare Association (AAPANMCWA) was held yesterday at Naharlagun.

Beautiful state of Arunachal has become the new hub for the fraudsters. Off late, several cases of cheating is being reported from various parts of state, with capital city being the worst affected. Capital police yesterday busted fake job racket with arrest of three persons by a team of police. The arrest was made following a tip off. Fraudsters seek donation with the promise of providing lucrative jobs to innocent unemployed youths.
However on most occasions, it is seen that immediately after receiving donation money they banish from the scene. Many youths have become the victim of such modus operandi. Adding to it, Arunachal has become the favourite hunting ground for illegal chit fund operation. Thousands of people have lost their money due to the chit fund scams. People should stop becoming prey to such fraudsters and learn from the mistake of fellow citizens. The district administration along with police should also conduct awareness campaigns to give awareness to the citizens.

PMGSY: A headache and a money spinning machine

Astonishingly, PMGSY in Bameng assembly constituency, East Kameng is being implemented at a higher amount than the actual sanction amount for the project. The extra amount are contributed from each households of the villages supposed to be connected by the road. It is a sort of public matching share for the flagship programme but there is nothing as such in the guidelines. This practice has been going on since last ten years in Bameng assembly constituency. The general public is in deep anguish but they are not in a position to fight back because whatever little source of earning they have will be stopped by the elected representative. None of the PMGSY in the said area has been carried out as per the detail project report. The length of the road has been shown in an imaginary manner just to catapult the cost of the project.
To bring forth to the knowledge of the readers and concerned authority, the case of PMGSY road from 12 km point of PWD road to Rawa and NLCPR road of Pakke to Sipiliang is a fitting case among others.
The sanction amount of 12 km point of PWD road to Rawa PMGSY package was Rs. 1233.89
lakhs (Rupees twelve crore thirty three lakhs eighty nine thousand) only. The work
was awarded to M/s M.D. Earth Movers, the proprietor is the wife of Kumar Waii, MLA

Another example is Development of road from Pakke to Sipiliang under NLCPR. The project cost for the 15 km road is 15.00 crore. The 15 km road has been reduced drastically to 5 km only and the fund for the project has been withdrawn. It is not known how the 15 km road was allowed to reduce to 5 km at the sweet will of the contractor. If the length of the road is 5 km only then how the department prepared DPR for 15 kms is a question that struck the mind of the common people.
To execute this project, the MLA and his henchmen took contribution of Rs.50,000/-

When the construction of the work and clearance of payment is still pending, the tendering of the said road package by the PWD again put a question mark on everybody. Before proceeding further, the department should carry out inspection of the project to ascertain its work and if works has been done then the pending payment of the petty contractors should be paid. Further, public matching share for PMGSY road or any flagship programme should be stop forthwith. Since it is an issue involving multi crores of rupees, it is worthy of instituting an inquiry to save the innocent people from being duped again and again.

A few suggestions for an MLA
Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to the suggestions and recommendations sought by the MLA of Yachuli Constituency. Such kind of gesture is first of its kind among various legislators. This step is really appreciable and all the legislators have to do it.
Since now you are an elected representative of the constituency it is our duty and responsibility to honor the mandate. Here are few of my suggestions for the constituency.
First of all do not terminate or try to terminate the Panchayat Members who had won from INC ticket yet did not support your candidature as MLA. Not supporting you had been a part of democratic process and therefore you should not take the matter as personal and feel bad about the election procedures. And thus don’t be vindictive and take revenge on those who did not support you.
Another important suggestion that I would like to give is that please release the pending bills of many petty contractors. As many of our people do not have jobs they have genuinely invested their hard earned incomes. You would also be aware that this pending bill was an issue during election campaign.
I would also like to add that we all love to celebrate and enjoy; but not at the expenses of area’s development and other important aspects. There was once a Mega Nyokum which was not celebrated as it should have been. The cultures and traditions were sacrificed without following the true spirit of Nyokum Yullo. The essence of Pre Christmas is also being jeopardized with the mixer of Bollywood tarka. And most recently the Pre Nyokum cum Valentine ’s Day party was no exception. Lots of monetary resources are being wasted just for a moment of fun and enjoyment. I do not discourage such celebrations. But rather I do encourage and recommend you to celebrate and observe the festival in true sense. Instead of celebrating mega Nyokum, encourage true traditional Nyokum in three of your Zila segments by giving the committee a fixed amount of money.
My next suggestion is not that important yet it’s a matter to be discussed. It is regarding organizing of annual event in Yachuli. Last year with the effort of few people especially Taba Techi, Bengia Takar, Likha Zimmy, Chukhu Mama and others, we saw Panyor River Festival, which many of us had never dreamt of ever witnessing in Yazali since our birth. I had been to the festival only during the last day. Yet I could see lots of hard work. Though the festival was not funded by any department or organization the popularity and the success of the festival was well acknowledged in every corner. It was a new innovative festival especially in the Nyishi belt. No such festival has ever been organized in any parts of the state. The then Secretary Planning cum Tourism, on behalf of Tourism Minister Pema Khandu and the Department of Tourism had promised to fund the annual Panyor River Festival. Such festival can help the area grow economically, culturally and intellectually.
To end, I would like to inform the MLA that “No individual is ever greater than the society”. You are not only an MLA but you also represent various intellectuals as well as general public of the society. As you walk strong, always remember that.
